When it comes to farming games, fans of the genre have certain expectations that make or break a game. The cosy vibes and beautiful scenery Fae Farm has to offer definitely make it a must-have addition to your fall games list.

Everything from nature to the items and different areas shows just how much work was put into making this game a treat for us lovers of this genre. The wait was well worth it, and exploring the lovely in-game scenery truly shows off the charm of this promising new game.

TL;DR

If you are a fan of farming games, you will surely find Fae Farm a very enjoyable play. There are many different places to explore around the map and you will not get bored while finding out new items to craft. Offering cute graphics and a beautiful and large map, Fae Farm will capture your heart and have you play for hours upon hours just so you can catch every critter and rare fish in the game!

Character Customization

When it comes to all the different customization options, you will truly feel like the game wants everyone to feel included. You can choose from so many different features which will make you customise your character to your liking. These include different skin colours, hair colours and styles from space buns to long locks, eye colours and shapes and of course, special characteristics like freckles and moles.

Of course, you can also choose between three different pronouns, and you can also customize your clothing items and colours. During the game, you will have the chance to unlock and buy new clothing items which will make your character fit right in with all the locals.

One more thing I really liked was that you could also choose your body type in the game. Fae Farm allows you to choose a smaller or bigger body to play in, and I believe this is something that every game should include in order to make players feel welcome and comfortable with the characters they create.

Exploring the Island

Welcome to Azoria! After being washed ashore on this mysterious land, the major of the town saves you and invites you to start a new life alongside her people. Sure, there are many disasters happening in the area, but you wouldn’t want to leave now that you got here? Your character might have a different opinion at first but will decide to give this new land a try anyway.

Azoria is a pretty big area to explore, and you will come across many different blocks in your path that you will slowly have to overcome in order to unlock new places. These can be anything from thorns to whirlwinds, but unlocking them will allow you to access new areas and items needed to progress in the game.

The scenery in Fae Farm is really diverse and it ranges from mountains to magical forests and beautiful seasides. You can explore so many different areas and easily navigate through the map by setting marks at the location you wish to visit. This is something that proves very useful as you first go through the game. The map is large and the different terrains can make you get lost, so having your trusty map in hand can help you find the right area easily.

Building Friendships with the Locals

From the moment you enter Azoria, you are tasked with meeting new people and building relationships with the local people. Fae Farm gives you the option to build friendships and even fall in love with other people around the town. Building friendships is very rewarding and you get to know quite a bit about every different character in the game.

Completing Quests and Progressing the Story

As you make progress in the story, you get to follow more and more quests around the island. While there are many story quests you must follow in order to unlock new skills and areas, there is also a plethora of side quests that are very fun to complete.

While some might seem less fun than others, most will help you unlock helpful things, gather gold and increase your relationship with other townspeople. For example, you will be able to unlock things such as the key to the salt lake mines, the critter net and your very own farm animals. It is a win-win situation for sure!

Fishing Around the Island

Fishing is one of my personal favourite activities in farming games, and Fae Farm certainly doesn’t disappoint. There are so many different spots where you can fish around the game, like the sea and even ponds around Azoria.

There are also all different kinds of fish you can catch, even some rare ones that cost much more when selling in the market. You can also upgrade your fishing gear as you level up your fishing skills and get even better catches.

All in all, the fishing mechanism is simple and fun and you will get the hang of it very easily, especially if you have played other fishing games before. All you have to do is click to start reeling in the fish and then let go when the fish gets annoyed. Be careful not to let your catch go too far in the water as it is possible that you will get dragged in the water too!

Foraging Items Around the Map

Even from your very first day in-game, you will be able to go around and forage a variety of different items. Some you can eat, like berries, others you can use as materials for other items and you can also collect materials such as wood and fibre that can help you craft new stations and other helpful items.

There are so many different things you can forage and collect around the map and you will always come across something useful during your explorations. One of the things that is very fun to look out for are some tiny scrolls scattered around Azoria, that contain crafting recipes and other items that are useful. You can usually find those at pretty random spots around the map, so make sure you climb everywhere and explore every nook and cranny of the map.

Catching Bugs and Critters

One of the things that you unlock pretty early on in the game is your very own critter net. With this, you will be able to catch all sorts of different bugs and critters around the map, and they can actually be a pretty good source of income when you’re just getting started with the game. You can catch things such as butterflies, frogs, dragonflies, and many more common as well are rare critters.

Something that is good to remember is that every season will have its own critters available for you to catch. So, make sure that you don’t forget to catch everything that flies or crawls around you during each season!

Growing your Crops & Trees

Fae Farm, like a proper farming simulator, allows you to grow a plethora of different crops, flowers and fruit trees on your property. There are many different ones you will start unlocking as you progress in the game, and each has its own growing time and requirements.

Something I really enjoyed but struggled with in the beginning was mixing different kinds of flowers to make unique coloured ones. This is a beautiful feature in the game and will allow you to experiment with growing different flowers until you find all the possible colour combinations.

Bonding with your Farm Animals

The adorable little animals in Fae Farm are one of the cutest additions you could expect in the game. Starting off with your first animal in the game, Chickoos are the most adorable little blue-tailed chickens that you will see all over your loading menus.

Later on in the game, you will be able to have more cute animals to take care of. For the most part, you will have to make sure your animals are fed and petted and that you allow them to spend time outside the barn. This will ensure they stay happy and give you some much-needed animal products that you can use for food and energy.

Deep in the Mines

The saltwater mines are one of the greatest spots to collect resources in Fae Farm. In general, when it comes to games of this genre, I always love exploring the mines. Stardew Valley made this one of the most important things and since then I always look forward to seeing what the mines in a new game have to offer.

And to be truthful, I enjoyed the mines in Fae Farm quite a bit. The level of difficulty goes higher as you go deeper into the mines and so do the kinds of minerals and enemies you come across. Most importantly, you can craft special items to help you keep your progress in the mines so you don’t always have to start from the beginning.

All in all, the mines give you some really helpful minerals and other items that will help you with upgrading your weapons, crafting new items and stations and making some money. Just always bring enough food with you so you never run out of energy!

Crafting Stations and Items

Fae Farm offers a lot of different options when it comes to crafting items in the game. You can start off with a bonfire where you can cook some simple meals and then advance to making a furnace, smelting station, juice bar and so much more. Every item you make will help you advance further in the game, unlock new skills and new areas and make your Fae Farm experience all that more fun.

Later on in the game, you will also be able to start crafting potions. These are a very valuable part of Fae Farm and can help you explore the island with much more ease.

Selling your Stock and Upgrading your Home

At the very early stages of Fae Farm, you will not be able to make so much money. You will be able to start off by selling items you foraged around the map, and later on, you can advance to selling cooked fruit and veggies, cooked fish and other food items. You can also craft things from the items you find in the mines and these also tend to sell for a lot of money in the game.

Once you start gathering enough money, you will be able to start upgrading your tools, buying crops and trees to plant and even customizing the look and outfits of your character. Just as important in Fae Farm is the customization of your very own home.

The cosier and more beautiful your house is, the more you are able to upgrade certain skills. And Fae Farm makes sure to provide you with a lot of options when it comes to making your tiny home into the cosiest nook in all of Azoria!

Should you Play Fae Farm? – Conclusion

Fae Farm offers a plethora of things to do and explore around the map of Azoria. Whether you love exploring the mines or crafting new recipes, you will surely find things you enjoy doing. It is truly the perfect blend of in-game activities, while still providing you with a lot of customization options so you can make the game feel even more homey. If you love farming games, Fae Farm is a must-play that you will enjoy for many many hours!
